I used lots of different materials for this project, as I was attempting to improve off of a previous design I made of this costume. I added magnets to this version in order to make the extra legs removable, so my top could be interchangeable depending on weather / vibe of the function I’d wear this to.

The execution:

I hope this video can provide some clarity that a detailed written explanation cannot give. This was one of my favorite projects I’ve done, and although it’s not considered “recent”, I thought I’d include it here anyway!

The inspiration:

You’re probably wondering what the fascination with spiders is. I have a pet tarantula named Sidetable Drawer, who I’ve had for just about 5 years now. I am deathly afraid of spiders and bugs in general, but he has been nothing but respectful to me the whole time I’ve owned him. I love watching him redecorate his house, and he inspired me to get creative.
